Case study
Tacho
A household’s recipes, the week’s menu and the shopping list, in one app for phones and watches. Designed, built and run by Bohemian Ambition.
The challenge
Dinner, sorted.
Recipes end up scattered across websites, screenshots and notebooks. Deciding what to eat every day takes more time than it should, and the shopping list is written by hand from all of it.
We wanted one place for the recipes a family actually cooks, that plans the week with them and writes the shopping list on its own, without asking anyone to create an account or hand their recipes over to a server.
The product
From recipe to plate.

On the tablet
Room to cook.
On a tablet the layout opens up: ingredients beside the method, the whole week at a glance and the shopping list in columns, made for a stand on the kitchen counter.

How we built it
Native, private, quick.
Native on every platform
Built with each platform’s own tools, so every version feels at home and uses what it does best: widgets, live updates on the lock screen, quick settings tiles and alarms.
AI on the phone first
AI adapts recipes to the household’s allergies and diet, estimates calories, suggests substitutes, makes up a dish with what’s at home and turns a photo or a pasted text into a recipe. It runs on the phone’s own model where there is one, and on Gemini in the cloud, only when asked, where there isn’t.
Any website, any format
Recipes come in from a shared link, read from the page’s structured data, with the AI as a fallback for the rest. A whole book of thousands of recipes stays quick to search and plan with.
From the wrist
The watch shows today’s meals, the week, the shopping list and the timers, kept in step with the phone, and cooks a recipe step by step.
Measured with consent
Usage statistics and crash reports only after the person agrees, never with recipe names or what they type; remote settings and A/B tests to tune the app without a new release.
A fair free version
Recipes, the menu, the shopping list, cooking mode and timers are free. Tacho Pro, a one-time purchase in the store, adds the AI, menu suggestions, the watch app and more.
On the watch
Hands busy.
In the kitchen, hands are rarely free. On the watch, Tacho shows what’s for lunch and dinner, ticks off the shopping and rings the timers started on the phone.
